Brendan Armm, DAOM, LAc - Founder/Director
Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
Dr. Armm is a board-certified Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicinal Herbalist both in the state of California and nationally. He is among the first fifty practitioners nationally to have completed a clinical Doctorate in Orthopedics, Pain Management and Integrative Medicine. In addition to Dr. Armm’s practice with and founding Lotus East-West Medical Center, he teaches Oriental medicine and meditation to the master level students at Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine.
While becoming a licensed acupuncturist, he was named “Student of the Year,” an award presented by the American Association of Oriental Medicine given only to the top student in the country. To enhance his clinical education, Dr. Armm completed a year long doctoral fellowship at Good Samaritan Hospital in downtown Los Angeles, a two year internship under Dr. Zhiyou Qiu, LAc, MD (China) at Emperor’s Doctoral Pain Management Clinic in Santa Monica, and an externship at the Venice Family Clinic. Richard Hsu graduated with a Master of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from South Baylo University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1997. In 1998, he obtained his acupuncture license in the state of California. Since then, Richard has been practicing acupuncture and Oriental medicine starting his first clinic in San Marino. Currently, he also has clinics in Northridge and Santa Monica.
Richard is always reinforcing his knowledge on alternative medicine by attending a wide assortment of classes; so in turn he can benefit his patients to achieve ultimate health and also to educate them so they can educate others about the benefits of alternative medicine. Won mi is an Acupuncturist licensed by the state of California. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine in Santa Monica, CA. She received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego with a sub-minor in Psychology. Won mi is also board-certified in Orthopedics by the Academy of Orthopedic Acupuncture. Her other specialties include: stress management, psycho-emotional disorders, women’s health, digestive issues and lifestyle counseling.
Won mi works with an integrative, energetic mind-body approach to help her patients heal from injury, stress, illness and imbalance. Dr. Vahdat is a board certified physician in internal medicine. She finished her undergraduate degree at University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. She completed her medical school training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York in 1998 and finished her residency in La Jolla, CA at the Scripps Clinic. Dr. Vahdat has extensive experience taking care of hospitalized and acutely ill patients in a variety of academic and community hospitals, including Kaiser Permanente and UCLA. As Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA, she has taught medical students and residents both about conventional medicine and integrative medicine. She has also authored several research papers in the area of cardiovascular medicine.
In more recent years Dr. Vahdat developed great interest in alternative medicine when a friend was diagnosed with breast cancer. This resulted in her pursuit of a fellowship at UCLA East Medicine where she was trained in traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture. She has used acupuncture, natural supplements, and nutrition to treat a variety of diseases and ailments: musculoskeletal pain disorders, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel disease, migraines, anxiety, and gastrointestinal disorders to name a few.
